For 33s I would suggest going with the 4 inch lift. You may end up having to do the SYE yet so plan on an additional 500 bucks. The stock 17" wheel with 33" tire (Duratrac on mine) fits well on the stock carrier. The bump stops are tight and the tire rubs/rests on the stock rear bumper so it is rock solid. The 285s are actually about 32.8" tall with an width of 11.2". The 33s are 32.5" tall and 12.5" wide. The front springs are rated at 2" for a 4dr (same front springs used for the 2dr and 4dr lifts) so 3" for a 2dr. I saw about 1" more lift up front vs rear with the Mopar springs, so they leveled my JK.The increased rotational inertia of bigger tires and wheels puts a larger load on your brakes on the street and reduces handling qualities. On the trail, that inertia adds to drivetrain loads and can help break axle parts. An "average" 33 inch tire weighs about 55 pounds. A stock 225/75-15 tire weighs 28 pounds. A 33" tire should be fine. A stock Rubicon tire is 32" (closer to 31" actually).
